Thanksgiving Tradition
Each year at Thanksgiving, our Conference distributes grocery gift cards and Table Talk pies to our neighbors-in-need in Concord and Carlisle. This year the food assistance is more important than ever and our assistance has reached 91 families. Beyond food assistance, this holiday tradition enables us to reconnect with the neighbors that we helped earlier in the year, provides an opportunity for conversation, and leads to offers of further assistance if needed.
Greeting Cards
We are delighted to be able to include hand-made holiday cards along with the grocery gift cards. Students and catechists from the C-C Catholic Collaborative Faith Formation Program created these Thanksgiving greeting cards for our neighbors. Marie Noel, Faith Formation Coordinator, commented that the students did a “phenomenal job” creating the cards. She reported that teacher-catechists presented the activity to reinforce lessons of faith, generosity, and compassion in their classes. The greeting cards will remind our neighbors that others are close by to help them and will make them feel loved and supported during difficult times. Our SVdP Conference is grateful to the students and their teachers who helped with this effort.
Putting It All Together
Each neighbor-in-need receives a packet containing :
- a letter from the president of our conference
- the home-made greeting card
- a $100 grocery gift card
- a three-page handout listing local food resources
- an SVdP business card
A team of eager volunteers assembled these materials.

Thanks to Our Donors
Throughout the year, our Conference provides emergency financial assistance to help local families pay their bills for the basic necessities of shelter, transportation, food, utilities and health care. We could not do this without our generous donors. Thank you.
