The Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SVdP) has added a new clothing donation bin at Holy Family Church in Concord, offering residents a convenient way to support charitable efforts across eastern Massachusetts.
The bin, which arrived this week, is located at the far end of the church parking lot. Community members are encouraged to donate gently used clothing and shoes, which will be distributed through SVdP’s network of thrift stores. Proceeds from these stores help fund programs that assist individuals and families in need.
Organizers emphasize that only appropriate items—such as wearable clothing and shoes—should be placed in the bin. Items like trash, furniture, televisions, mattresses, and appliances are not accepted.
There is also a long-standing SVdP clothing collection bin in Carlisle at St. Irene’s Church.

The donation site is managed by the SVdP Boston (Stoughton) Regional Council, which oversees collection and maintenance. A contractor will service the bin regularly to ensure it does not overflow. Any issues with capacity can be reported to local SVdP representatives.
While some donated items will be sold in regional SVdP stores, those not suitable for resale are repurposed and sold in bulk to organizations that support underserved communities outside the area.
Although the Concord/Carlisle SVdP does not receive direct financial support from the donations, the presence of the bin helps raise awareness of SVdP’s mission and its ongoing work in the community.
Residents are invited to participate by donating items and helping extend the reach of this longstanding charitable organization.
