The Concord-Carlisle Conference of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul kicked off its annual outreach effort on the weekend of September 21-22, 2024. We began with a short presentation after every Mass at Holy Family and St. Irene parishes, followed by one-on-one discussions with interested parishioners. Our goals were to
- Raise awareness of the Conference mission
- Recruit new members for the Conference
- Solicit donations
Our Concord Carlisle conference provides short-term financial support of urgent overdue bills for any neighbor who comes to us for help either directly or through social service agencies in Concord and Carlisle. All interactions are treated with total confidentiality. Neighbors come to us for a variety of crisis situations, including a loss of a job, an unexpected illness, unplanned increases in monthly bills, or a needed car requiring major repairs. And sometimes major changes in family situations such as a divorce, a death or leaving an abusive situation, can be
temporarily catastrophic.
So far this year, we have helped more than 77 families, paying bills totaling more than $85,000. We have made payments for rent, utilities, emergency housing, and medical bills. We also have provided an additional support for food and clothing. We make a special effort to provide food assistance at the holidays.
We are a 100% volunteer organization that depends on our dedicated members to reach out to our neighbors-in-need, discuss their financial issues, and develop an assistance plan. We are always looking for additional volunteers to support our Conference. Click on the button below to find out more about volunteering with us.
The people of Concord and Carlisle have always been generous in supporting our efforts, and we are very grateful. We depend on your continued generosity over the coming year. Click on the button below to make a donation.
